The Heritage Museum of Montgomery County preserves and shares the rich history and heritage of Montgomery County through engaging exhibits, educational programs, and interactive experiences for visitors of all ages. Located inside the historic Grogan/Cochran home — originally built in 1924 — the museum brings the region’s past to life, highlighting the lumber and oil industries, early communities, and the everyday stories of local residents.
The museum features three permanent galleries, including Glimpses of Montgomery County, a chronological journey from prehistoric times through the development of Lake Conroe; Towns, People & Events, which celebrates influential individuals and milestone moments in local history; and a hands-on Children’s Room where young visitors can explore a log cabin and a turn-of-the-century general store.
Guests can also enjoy a research room, oral history collections, rotating exhibitions, a gift shop, outdoor displays, and a variety of special events and educational programs offered throughout the year. Founded in 1985 with the support of the Conroe Service League and community donors, the museum continues to serve as a gateway to Montgomery County’s unique story.
